The Alliance
Facing increasing and more aggressive competition from other
economic regions for investment by top employers, Cedar Valley
business and institutional leaders began meeting in 2003 to find
a way to coordinate regional economic and community
development. It was obvious that The Cedar Valley would face
stiffer competition on a regional, national and global basis. Only
through visible and effective coordination can The Cedar Valley
present its strong and broad physical and economic attributes to
the global market.
The Greater Cedar Valley Alliance was created to lead our
economic development efforts in global competition for
economic growth. It is the first point of contact for growing
businesses and their site selectors. The Alliance’s Economic
Development team promotes and advocates the economic
benefits of doing business in The Cedar Valley, as well as the
quality of life that enriches us. The unique value of the Alliance
flows from its ability to connect existing and prospective
businesses with its many partners, public and private, and their
relationships and resources: the human, intellectual, creative,
financial, social and political capital essential to economic
growth and prosperity in The Cedar Valley of Iowa.

not just money, it’s also talent and ideas.”
