ANNUAL CELEBRATION

The Annual Celebration has one major theme: recognition of individuals, businesses, and organizations. The event is attended by over 600, including Cedar Valley business & civic leaders. The evening event includes a networking hour followed by dinner, awards ceremony, and dessert bar.

To recognize the efforts of a Greater Cedar Valley Alliance & Chamber investor in promoting the quality of life and offering leadership within the Cedar Valley, achieving a major business accomplishment or making an outstanding contribution to the Cedar Valley community, economy and citizens.

To recognize the efforts of a private sector firm for innovation in technology, advanced manufacturing or talent development.

To recognize the efforts of a private sector firm for a significant investment in the Cedar Valley that most emphasize the attributes of the Cedar Valley.

To recognize an outstanding contribution by an individual in the private sector for leadership in creating and strengthening regional collaboration and cooperation for economic and community development.

To recognize the efforts of an educational institution, non-profit organization, service club or human service agency in promoting economic growth and employment, quality of life, offering leadership or making an outstanding contribution to the Cedar Valley and its citizens on a continuing basis or with a specific project.

CEDAR VALLEY DIVERSITY & INCLUSION INITIATIVE

The Cedar Valley Diversity and Inclusion initiative is designed to strengthen the Cedar Valley through promoting diversity, full inclusion, and cultural competencies in business, and to focus on the importance, impact and benefits to business of effective diversity and inclusion practices. The committee consists of members from the Cedar Valley business community who are dedicated to uncovering and realizing opportunities that promote the positive impact of diversity and inclusion in the Cedar Valley. The committee implements a variety of initiatives designed to promote diversity and inclusion in the workplace, such as diversity-focused publications, special events, and educational seminars. CEDAR VALLEY LEADERSHIP INSTITUTE

Cedar Valley Leadership Institute is a professional development series designed for business investors who want to develop and strengthen their leadership skills within the community. Monthly sessions (the first Wednesday of each month October-May) focus on a variety of topics including economic development volunteerism, government relations and diversity and in the Cedar Valley. CEDAR VALLEY TALENT CONNECT

  • Talent Connect Job Fairs - matching you with new talent for today's openings.
  • Talent Connect Tours - helping students and placement teams know more about the Cedar Valley and career opportunities through "Work the Valley."

CEO ROUNDTABLE BREAKFAST

The semi-annual breakfasts are held each year in February and November. Each Roundtable is an opportunity for attendees (CEOs, COOs, and CFOs) to gain valuable insight into current business issues.

GOLF CLASSIC

The Golf Classic, which attracts up to 150 golfers, is an excellent opportunity to network in a relaxed atmosphere with Alliance & Chamber investors, community leaders and potential clients. A networking lunch and “19th hole” social hour are included.

GOOD MORNING CEDAR VALLEY

Good Morning Cedar Valley is a quarterly networking breakfast, informing Alliance & Chamber investors on current events. The brief program includes the Cedar Valley Mayors and a Black Hawk County Board of Supervisors representative. Updates are also given by other business leaders. Each breakfast attracts more than 150 Alliance & Chamber investors from across the Cedar Valley.

  • Annual business and civic priorities agenda for the state legislature.
  • Networking and forums with our delegation on business issues.
  • Friday Forum - Stay on top of the issues being addressed at the State House that affect Cedar Valley business and the economy. Friday Forums give the business community the opportunity to connect with legislators while in session. Learn More.

LEADER VALLEY

The Leader Valley talent initiative is an effort to make the Cedar Valley a better place for students to excel and become well prepared for citizenship and their future careers. We feel this is achieved through high levels of community collaboration. Through Leader Valley, strong partnerships amongst Cedar Valley businesses, school district administrators, school boards, parents, and the community are being built. This is a program based on the principles of Stephen Covey’s “7 Habits of Highly Effective People." Learn More.

PRE-SESSION RECEPTION, CEDAR VALLEY RECEPTION IN DES MOINES, AND LEGISLATIVE SESSION RECAP

These government relations receptions provide a summary of the legislative session from a panel of local legislators. Alliance & Chamber investors will have an opportunity to share their views with lawmakers, ask questions, and hear their take on the topics of interest to business leaders from the Greater Cedar Valley. MANUFACTURERS CONFERENCE

This event's main focus is on talent and innovation. The day’s schedule is packed with panels, presentations, and speakers to help develop a collaborative manufacturing community dedicated to enhancing business success through growing talent.

NEW INVESTOR BRIEFINGS

The Investor Briefing are an opportunity for participants to learn about the value of their Alliance & Chamber investment and to network with other new investors. This semi-annual breakfast allows new investors to give a brief commercial description of their business or organization.

NEW TEACHER BREAKFASTS

This annual recognition breakfast is a great chance for your business to support quality education and welcome new teachers to Waterloo and Cedar Falls. Business representatives can network with each other as well as educators. A brief program includes an update from the district superintendents, Alliance & Chamber representatives, and business leaders. Both the Waterloo and Cedar Falls events are held prior to the new school year and are attended by approximately 100 people.

POWER NETWORKING

Power Networking is a structured social event held in April and October. It is limited to 50 Alliance & Chamber representatives (limit 2 per investor). Build your prospect list with 25 new business contacts in just 90 minutes with a one-minute commercial.     

STRICTLY BUSINESS EXPO

An annual business to business expo with approximately 75 investor businesses and organizations on display. This premier networking event includes a motivational seminar, prizes, and refreshments. The expo is open to the public.
