Road Construction Updates
The Greater Cedar Valley Alliance & Chamber stays abreast of local infrastructure issues that impact the business community; transportation, broadband, planning & zoning, utilities, and initiatives like the Blue Zones project. The Chamber Council helps identify the issues and concerns of the business community, disseminate information, and initiate dialog with the public sector through strategic communications, the Friday Forum, and other action as needed.
The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles and wear seat belts.

Stage 1 of University Avenue Reconstruction
Beginning March, 2016, the contractor will begin the installation of the water main by closing Valley Park south of University Avenue and through the south frontage road. In order for the contractor to begin pavement removal, a full road closure will be required. The road closure will be in effect for two weeks, depending on the weather. Click here to view a map of the closure area.

Waterloo is still working with the state. Due to the number of bridges, the Waterloo project is taking more time to complete. For more information about this project, visit INRCOG's Transportation page. Be sure to check out the roundabout simulations and live video feeds that offer further insight into the project.
Questions or comments about the project and/or the proposed alternatives should be direct to Kevin Blanshan.
