Annual Celebration: Our Annual Celebration is focused on recognizing individuals, businesses & organizations. Attended by over 500 people, including Cedar Valley business & civic leaders, the evening includes a networking hour followed by dinner and awards. 

  • Legacy Award: Recognize an individual for their continued leadership and noteworthy contributions to the Cedar Valley through philanthropy and volunteerism; working to create a positive environment for business expansion and community growth and enhancing the quality of life for talent recruitment and retention.

  • Fulfilling the Vision of One Award: Recognize an outstanding contribution by an individual in the private sector for leadership in creating and strengthing regional collaboration and cooperation for economic and community development

  • Business of the Year Award (1-50 FTEs): Recognizes the efforts of a Grow Cedar Valley investor in promoting the quality of life and offering leadership within the Cedar Valley, achieving a major business accomplishment, or making an outstanding contribution to the Cedar Valley community, economy, and residents.

  •  Business of the Year Award (51+ FTEs): Recognizes the efforts of a Grow Cedar Valley investor in promoting the quality of life and offering leadership within the Cedar Valley, achieving a major business accomplishment, or making an outstanding contribution to the Cedar Valley community, economy, and residents.

  • Harold Brock Innovation Award: Recognize the efforts of a private sector firm for innovation in technology, advanced manufacturing or talent development.

          Harold Brock was the mentee of Henry Ford, and started his career at Ford. He eventually turned his focus to tractors and worked at the John Deere Tractor Works in Waterloo from 1959 to 1980. He was the driving force in creation of the Hawkeye Institute of Technology (Hawkeye Community College), served on the Board of Trustees, Hawkete Foundation, and a founder of the Junior Achievement of Eastern Iowa.

  • John Deere Treating Capital Well Award: Recognize the efforts of a private sector firm for a significant investment in the Cedar Valley that most emphasize the attributes of the Cedar Valley. (Building - green & sustainable, technologies, innovative talent recruitment & training, new tech jobs)

  • Cedar Valley Partner Award: Recognize the efforts of an educational institution, non-profit organization, servic or human service agency in promoting economic growth and employment, quality of life, offering leadership or making an outstanding contribution to the Cedar Valley and its citizens on a continuing basis or with a specific project. 


Business After Hours: An opportunity for investors to socialize and experience various locations throughout the Cedar Valley. Attendees enjoy networking, special information and insight about area businesses, along with complimentary hors d'oeuvres.

Good Morning Cedar Valley: A quarterly networking breakfast, inofming Alliance & Chamber investors on current events. The program includes Cedar Valley Mayors and a Black Hawk County Board of Supervisors representative. Updates are also given by other business leaders. More than 150 investors attend. 

Golf Classic: Attracting more than 150 golfers, this is an excellent opportunity to get out of the office and network in a relaxed atmosphere with Grow Cedar Valley investors, community leaders and potential clients. Networking lunch and soical hour are included.

Government Affairs Events: Friday Forum, Pre-Session Reception, Cedar Valley Reception in Des Moines & Legislative Session Recap are all put together by the Government Affairs committe. Click here to learn more about these events. 

New Investor Briefings: This semi-annual breakfast is an opportunity for new investors to learn about the value of their investment, network with other new investors, and give a brief commercial description of their business or organization.

New Teacher Breakfast: Support quality education and welcome new teachers to Waterloo and Cedar Falls at this annual recognition breakfast. Attended by 250 people, business representatives can network with each other and educators. A brief program includes an update from the district superintendents, Grow Cedar Vallley representatives and business leaders. 

Power Networking: Held in April and October, this structured soical event helps you build your prospect list wtih 25 new business contacts in just 90 minutes with a one-minute commercial. Limit of 50 Grow Cedar Valley repesentatives, 2 attendees per investor. 

Strictly Business Expo: A premier networking & business expo, with approximately 75 investor businesses and organizations on display, includes a motivational seminar, prizes and refreshments. Event is open to the public. 




Cedar Valley Leadership Institute (CVLI): This is an eight-month professional development series designed for business investors who want to develop and strengthen their leadership skills within the community. Monthly sessions are held on the first Wednesday of each month (October-May) and focus on a variety of topics such as; economic development, volunteerism, government relations, and diversity in the Cedar Valley.
